Letter: Just isn't rugby

Sir: I cannot believe that such as Hugh Gaitskell, Harold Wilson or Neil Kinnock would have organised a special Labour Party conference on the day of the Rugby League Challenge Cup final at Wembley (27 April).

Perhaps Tony Blair's affinity for Labour's traditional roots is as tenuous as some cynics suggest.
