Letter: Justice in the dock: the fallibility of juries, self-defence, and trial by media

Sir: I was dismayed to read of the perverse verdict reported today. This will reinforce the common belief that the guilty walk free all too often.

Surely two matters should now be considered urgently, the introduction of some standard of qualification for jurors and the disclosure of the previous convictions of accused persons before the jury retires to consider its verdict.

Yours faithfully,

D. S. HOSKINS
