Letter: Labour tastes

YOUR DISTINCTION between the unacceptable and acceptable faces of Labour is quite mistaken in some respects. You suggest that Old Labour had no taste in drink or food. Perhaps the jury is out on the proletarian eating habits of some northern Labour MPs. However, it is worthwhile recalling that the founder of the Good Food Guide, Raymond Postgate, was a former communist and that the next editor of the Good Beer Guide, Roger Protz, is a lifelong socialist. The left loves good food and drink and, unlike New Labour, wants everyone to be able to have them.
