Letter: Labour's plans for 'fairness and opportunity' in education
Sir: The school plan announced by Labour will lead to chaos if, and when, they become the government. It will lead to the retention of an elitist system of schooling that the country has suffered under for most of its educational life. In order to produce a fair system, we need to either abolish grant-maintained schools or abolish LEAs and allow all schools to be funded equitably. What we must get away from is the multi- structural scenario. Tony Blair talks about level playing fields; at the moment some schools don't even have playing fields.
Yours faithfully,
