Sir: Duncan Lamont may have highlighted the role of new technology in 'lawyering' copy for a newspaper (19 October), but he failed to acknowledge the other great change in the traditional worlds of journalists and the law -the advance of women.

Night lawyering remains a 'young man's game'? Nearly two-thirds of the night lawyers who provide the Independent with advice are women.
