Letter: Let luck determine who sits in the Lords
YOUR article 'Palace 'bent' rules to let princess marry in private', (6 December), stated that a marriage in Scotland 'needs to be notified to the registrar of the appropriate district at least 15 days in advance; a minimum of six weeks is required if the bride or groom has been married before'.
The second figure is not correct: the registrar may advise previously married applicants to allow six weeks' notice to avoid disappointment in case their divorce papers are not in order.
