Sir: Further to your informative article about muntjac deer ('Cute it is, Bambi it isn't', 4 October), I should like to counter the rather dismissive comments made about the culinary qualities of this animal. As an infrequent consumer, I can confirm that, if not overhung and well-cooked, it is superb. One haunch from a full-grown animal will provide ample helpings for six people. Field trials even indicate some aphrodisiacal powers. Try it.
