Letter: No judgements, just final peace for Kurt Cobain

Sir: I am writing to thank you for the kind and thoughtful Kurt Cobain articles by Ben Thompson and Giles Smith in the Independent on Sunday and the Independent on 10 and 14 April respectively. This was exactly how Nirvana fans will remember him - as an extremely talented, sensitive, interesting and, ultimately, important individual.

Trying to explain the significance of a 'rock star' to many people, is often a fruitless task, but Mr Thompson's and Mr Smith's articles were able to do this successfully, without being patronising and thankfully with little mention of the 'grunge' - word.
