Letter: No poppies for me
Sir: How refreshing to read Frank Barrett's article 'Poignancy without pomp and poppies' (3 November). It is always difficult to explain to people why I will not attend a Remembrance Day service or volunteer to buy a poppy. It is usually regarded as lack of respect, which it is not: I find the war graves in France and Belgium as moving as the next man. But those 'old lies'? No, thank you.
Yours faithfully,
