Letter: No surprises in the television news

I PREFER to listen to the news on Radio 4 ('Out of tune at Ten', 1 August) because I find the television pictures boring. Each time the Bundesbank is mentioned, up comes the obligatory picture of a grim concrete building in Frankfurt. If the subject is the ERM, there follow pictures of over- aged youths shouting at each other, which apparently is the London money market.

Radio news relies on better written commentaries and concentrates on important topics instead of searching for stories whose sole claim for inclusion is their visual impact.
