Letter: Other people's conversations

Sir: Gerald Phizackerley's plea for special rail accommodation for mobile-phone users as well as for smokers (letter, 21 June) conjures up images of vast trains snaking their way through the countryside.

Mine would have special compartments for smokers, phone users, chompers, chewers and nibblers, nail-biters, sniffers and snorters, appliers of make-up, 'personal stereo' users, lager drinkers, habitual newspaper rustlers and one carriage for the deeply prejudiced, in which I would hope to reside alone in undisturbed splendour.
