Letter: Out of Hackney

Sir: Phoenicurus Ochruros: The black redstart is certainly not rising phoenix-like from terrain in Islington, but in Hackney. Your front page picture (18 June) showing a young male singing its heart out within sight of St Paul's is actually taking the air up above Underwood Street, EC1, which is in the London Borough of Hackney. This borough is no stranger to conservation issues and has just published the first Nature Conservation Strategy for a London borough, 'Nature Conservation in Hackney'.
