YOU MAY be interested to know that the art of the armourer is alive and thriving within the Square Mile ('Gilded Cages of the City', Business, 20 December). The Conservation Department of the Royal Armouries, HM Tower of London, has a long tradition of armour making and we regularly 'drive in rivets'. Incidentally, both my predecessor and I are members of the Armourers and Brasiers Company, and although we no longer serve a seven-year apprenticeship, we are ensuring that our skills are passed on.
