MOST politicians are still confusing children who kill with children who persistently offend. Sometimes a hideous crime of great brutality can be committed in the midst of a hitherto blameless life.

A brutal crime is an accumulation over a long period of a build- up of rage, fear and despair.

Communication is the tool we need for building mental shelter for damaged minds. Real communication, where families and offenders are prepared to tell themselves the truth, would enable both to start the long hard haul of discovering where it all began.
