Letter: Reasons for privacy ought to be public
Sir: The Prime Minister this week reminded the Leader of the Opposition that he knew perfectly well the number of good reasons why the Committee of Privileges should continue to sit in private.
Perhaps Tony Blair could be encouraged to let us know John Major's reasons, since the latter's explanation has so far consisted of the single word 'precedence', which I take it convinces no one.
Yours faithfully, DEREK PARKER London W14 26 October
