Letter: Rivera was right
Sir: I had always thought that Diego Rivera, the Mexican painter, was a Communist whose paintings glorified monsters such as Lenin and Trotsky. It now appears ('Diego Rivera's dirty little secret,' 25 November) that, in later life, he supplied information about his Communist associates to the US. His break with totalitarianism and concern about Soviet infiltration of his country surely mitigates his earlier misconduct. But why adopt a tone of disapproval for what he did?
Yours sincerely,
