Letter: Telly pap

I FULLY agree with Allison Pearson's opinion of Carlton Television ('Carlton wins the booby prize', 5 December).

The contrast between the sort of quality programming produced by Thames Television and the seemingly inexpensively produced downmarket pap from Carlton could not be greater.

After almost a year of viewing Carlton Television's programmes on the ITV network, bar a couple of exceptions, one wonders how low the quality threshold was set for the London weekday franchise.
