Letter: The best sermons last the distance

Sir: I have spent 30 years learning the art of preaching. If a preacher is imaginative, honest, inquiring and thoughtful, the length of the sermon is immaterial. I rarely preach for less than half an hour in a Liturgy, which on occasions lasts up to two hours. No one complains; rather the reverse.

Yours faithfully,

DONALD REEVES
