LETTER: Those who wish to rewrite history start by banning books
THE SORDID silence of William Shirer on the gay victims of Nazism is matched by the almost absolute silence of Second World War histories on the role of the gay soldier. The contributions and the persecutions of the soldier who officially does not exist must soon be documented or lost forever because of the deaths of war veterans.
The manipulation of history by convenient omissions allows minority groups to be stigmatised and controlled.
