Letter: Votes for women in Labour selection
Sir: I cannot be alone in being irritated by Lord Russell (Letters, 7 June) making the same mistake as the Today programme's news bulletin this morning in talking of the issue of 'one man, one vote'.
The Labour Party's current debate is about whether to institute a 'one member, one vote' system for the selection of parliamentary candidates and party leader.
There are more than 100,000 women members of the party, and it is unfair of those outside the party to distort this important debate by excluding us, at a stroke, from this debate as envisaged in the minds of Radio 4 listeners and Independent readers.
Yours sincerely,
JOANNA ELSON
