ONLY when people realise their true place in the natural world will they be fit to face Earth's desperate environmental problems. To redress this, anthropology and archaeology should be introduced into the national curriculum. How many school-leavers are familiar with the abundant fossil record for human evolution, not to mention the principles of Darwin's natural selection?
