Letter: Woody's woes

Sir: I cannot fathom editorial values that promote to the top of the front page a story of American marital strife of no consequence except to the people involved ('Woody Allen denies abusing adopted child', 19 August), while obdurately refusing to cover anything to do with the troubles of the Royal Family who, like it or not, are of some consequence to our culture, constitution and sense of national identity. Thank goodness the end of August is in sight.
