Letters: Families reduced to penury by CSA

Sir: Polly Toynbee includes Families Need Fathers in a list stating that we "are the most effective organisations ever to spring up spontaneously in political revolt".

Families Need Fathers (FNF) has been in existence for over 20 years to promote contact between children and parents. Vast amounts of legislation have been enacted over this period, which has made the life of the non- residential parent much more problematical.

Families Need Fathers has never published any information in newsletters about avoidance in CSA matters, and indeed advises members to meet their financial commitments. It does not, however, support current legislation, because this enables a parent to obtain financial support for a child without allowing contact. The biggest problem among FNF members is enforcement of contact.
