Politics is dead. Dead in the US, dead in the UK and dead in Europe. Politics is dead because it fails to meet the world population’s spiritual and economic needs. The current brand of politics is born out of selfishness, greed, hate, and prejudice. The current brand of politics creates wars, then more wars. Politics creates inequality, poverty, famine, disease, and destroys nations, countries, economies and families. It destroys politicians themselves.

The answers may be elusive, but would Christian values, including dialogue and discussion, based on respect, and consideration for each other, be a starting point?

At his inauguration President-elect Trump will start his term of office with the basics, and swear an oath on the Bible. Let us pray he remembers Nebuchadnezzar’s dream.

I woke up with sad news as if someone had died. How could a civilised nation go uncivil? How could Americans with sane minds trust a belligerent man like Trump who hates everyone who isn’t white? What did you just do, oh America?

I have never felt worried and sad as I did today. I thought people were going to act with some civility and sanity and vote with their minds and intellect.

I am not a diehard supporter of Hillary. My motto was anyone but Trump. Anyone but a man filled with anger and hate.

May God save us all.

It will certainly be four years of turbulence and uncertainty. How could anyone trust a man with such temperament?

I would be terrified if I was living in America today.

He will certainly make America un-great again.

Let us hope and pray.

At last... a real chance for Nigel to “Get His Life Back”. Could he now relocate to America and use his expertise in helping to build The Wall?

There has to be a glimmer of hope in these gloomy times. Doesn’t there?!

So Hillary Clinton has conceded and Donald Trump has won. He will be the Commander-in-Chief and have his finger on the nuke button. I have wrapped up all my Christmas presents and am distributing them now – before it is too late!

First Brexit, now Trump. “The will of the people” is very clear. Will the last person out please turn off the lights?

At least this means we can look forward to President Lisa Simpson in 2020...

The death of democracy

Buried in mounds of money and publicity.

Twisted by lies, false promises and duplicity.

Manipulated and corrupted

By power seeking men –

By whom all truth is twisted and distorted.

Liberty, equality and fraternity

All sacrificed by evil men inciting fear and hatred

And a frenzy of “mob rule” within society.

The dates of the deaths of democracy

Are etched in the tablets of our history.

31 October 1922,

30 January 1933,

24 June 2016

And 11 November 2016,

The dates when “mob rule”

Infected our societies

And destroyed our fragile democracies.
