Contrary to what Ann Treneman says, we all have a choice. We can all choose to kill ourselves, and do so. What is in debate is whether we should be enabled to do so painlessly and quickly, causing others minimum inconvenience, rather than giving our loved ones, or the police, the job of cleaning up after we have slit our wrists or drowned ourselves - backstreet suicide, if you please, as obscene an operation as backstreet abortion.
