Letter: Break point
AS TENNIS racket technology takes on a new dimension, women's tennis appears to be improving. This year the women's championship has proved to be more entertaining than the men's. It's about rallies, tense moments and, above all, entertainment - something that men's tennis lacks. Martina has character and humour. Fernandez, Martinez and McNeil are great players and great entertainers.
Sampras is good at his job, but he doesn't make great entertainment. He is the Steve Davis of tennis: unappealing, serious and boring.
Technology can be partially blamed. But why hasn't it also affected the women's game?
