Letter: Food dangers must be spelt out

It takes Anita Roddick to warn us of the covert introduction of genetically modified food ("If you want to know what's in your food, shout louder", 4 May).

Major stores claim it is impossible to label the products, yet a smaller chain does. Tesco produces "facts" leaflets, which claim misleadingly that genetically modified beans are indistinguishable. They fail to mention that some countries ban these products, and that the gene inserted in maize is from the E-coli bacteria, and may increase risk.
