Letter: Old prejudice
THANK YOU for highlighting the activities of the St Albans Executive Association ('Ousted executives pool skills to fight back', Business, 10 October). One of the main problems in the hunt for work is endemic ageism. It is unfortunate that you described the chairman as 'a spritely (sic) 60-year-old'. Presumably you mean 'lively for his age' and 'not resembling an elf'. But the point is Norman Gerald would be far better value to industry than a raw graduate. The fact that he is my father only strengthens my feelings on the matter.
