I'M GLAD that your comedy critic enjoyed The Late Lock-In at The Brix ("Brixton: laughter capital of Europe", 3 March) but should point out that The Brix is not "a derelict church converted into a thriving fun palace".

The (far from derelict) listed building's multi-functional use is, in fact, a good example of the Church of England working creatively with the community in the inner city. Funded largely by Brixton Challenge, The Brix is still home to St Matthew's, the parish church of Brixton, which on Sunday mornings is also thriving and occasionally even fun.
