The Cullen inquiry has cost the taxpayer a lot of money and a lot of time and effort has been spent by the groups that presented evidence. All of this has been wasted as the Government has ignored the recommendations and proposes alternative legislation. The explanation, that the Cullen recommendations "did not go far enough" suggests the Government had already decided upon the required answers from Lord Cullen before the inquiry started. This devalues public inquiries and is a waste of public resources.
