More marchers, less refuse

I NOTE that you put the numbers attending the annual Gay Pride march at 10,000 (25 June).

I personally brought with me on the march two heavy sacks of my own domestic refuse, which I proudly dumped in Victoria Park. However, I didn't notice many other people doing the same, so I am at a loss to understand how the London Borough of Hackney came to find 150 tonnes of refuse (15kg each, your estimate!) in the park after the event.

Perhaps you would be of better service to your readers if you didn't get your crowd estimates from those who take an interest in talking the numbers down. I think 40,000 on the march and upwards of 100,000 in the park are much more realistic estimates; a march with 10,000 marchers 10 and 20 abreast does not take 100 minutes to pass by.
