LETTER:School speech day

Sir: School speech days can be turgid affairs, not least because of the predictable nature of those presenting the prizes. So how refreshing it was to hear recently of Hurstpierpoint College inviting the German defence minister, Volker Ruhe, to be their guest speaker. All the more enlightened in view of the recent VE Day anniversary.

I wonder whether my fellow readers have other suggestions for school heads looking for an alternative to the company director or retired politician?
