Exhibition marks homecoming for East End boy David Bailey
Show all 4Celebrated British photographer David Bailey is to return to the London borough of his birth for a new exhibition that will reveal unseen pieces from his celebrated 1960s work.
The latest exhibition covering work by Bailey, pictured below, who was born in Leytonstone and raised in East Ham, will open on Saturday at Walthamstow’s William Morris Gallery.
East End Faces, which runs until 26 May, “complements” his recent East End exhibition that ran as part of the Create Festival in August last year, according to a spokesman.
It will include previously unseen pictures including streetscapes, characters and various scenes of East London life.
Bailey, now 75, taught himself photography and is well-known for his role in chronicling London in the 1960s, when he was handed a contract to work for Vogue.
A book of his work in the East End will be published later this year.
