With his sleeves rolled up, eyes shaded by sunglasses and a cigarette in hand, a relaxed John Lennon is captured in a rare private moment in this previously unseen photo. Taken by David Spindel at the recording of Lennon's 1980 album Double Fantasy, released just three weeks before he was murdered in New York by Mark Chapman, the black and white images form part of an exhibition opening at London's Proud Gallery on 7 December. Timed to coincide with the 27th anniversary of the ex-Beatle's death, "Remember Love: John Lennon" showcases famous shots of the singer alongside images never before viewed by the public, and will run until next March.
