Bill Cosby stand-up tour set to continue amid rape allegations

Bill Cosby’s stand-up tour is set to continue despite recent sexual abuse allegations made against the actor.

Netflix and NBC decided to drop their special edition programmes about the comedian earlier this week following allegations made by Janice Dickinson that the actor had allegedly assaulted her as a young model.

But the US tour venues plan to go ahead with Cosby’s show, claiming it would be inappropriate to cancel the run when no formal charges have been filed against the actor.

The super model is the latest in a string of women to accuse Cosby of sexual assault. Cosby has consistently strongly denied all the previous allegations.

Last week the Washington Post published an article by former model Barbara Bowman, in which she accused Cosby of having “drugged and raped” her in 1985, when she was 17.

Another alleged victim, publicist Joan Tarshis, claimed she was sexually assaulted by the comedian in 1969.

At the weekend the actor’s lawyer said that he will not be commenting on the “decade-old discredited” allegations.

“The fact that they are being repeated does not make them true,” read a statement on Cosby’s website.

“Mr Cosby does not intend to dignify these allegations with any comment. He would like to thank all his fans for the outpouring of support and assure them that, at age 77, he is doing his best work."
