Daniel Radcliffe was mistaken for a homeless person in New York

Daniel Radcliffe has revealed he was recently mistaken for a homeless person while in New York.

The actor, who shot to fame as the child star of the Harry Potter films, appeared on The Graham Norton Show where he recalled a rare moment when he wasn’t recognised as a world-famous actor.

The 30-year-old was apparently stood outside a shop looking after the dog that he and his girlfriend had fostered, while his girlfriend was inside.

Radcliffe said the dog was cold so he knelt down to keep it company and try to keep him warm.

“I saw this guy look at me and smile,” Radcliffe said. “Then he walked past me, got about five steps away, reappeared with a five dollar bill over my shoulder and went, ‘Get yourself a coffee mate.’”

“Apparently I have to shave more often,” Radcliffe quipped.

On the same show, Radcliffe was in stitches over outrageous comments by his former Harry Potter co-star Miriam Margolyes, who made a number of remarks about foreskin.

The full episode of The Graham Norton Show is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
