Marvel has debuted a 15-second teaser for the Guardians of the Galaxy on YouTube, ahead of the first full trailer for the superhero movie set to air in the US tonight.

The montage is short on dialogue and plot details but has plenty of action, including a very fleeting glimpse of the Bradley Cooper-voiced Rocket Raccoon and WWE wrestler Batista as Drax the Destroyer.

It comes after three images were released from the film yesterday, all serving to heighten anticipation for the first full trailer which will air during US chat show Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight.

Parks and Recreation star Chris Pratt takes the lead role of Peter Quill/Star-Lord in the film, who recently said that unlike many other comic book heroes his is somewhat 'childlike'.

"Being stuck in space with no accountability makes for a strange combination of youthful vibrancy and cluelessness in a childlike man," Pratt told USA Today.

"He does some things that most people wouldn't get away with. But part of his arc is being willing to essentially sacrifice himself for the greater good of other people."

In other Marvel news, the comic book characters Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and Jessica Jones are all set to get their own Netflix mini-series sometime in 2015, before banding together for a team-up show called The Defenders.
