Has there ever been a movie series as gloriously inane as Sharknado?

The first movie in the series, released in 2013, received surprisingly good reviews, and even better ratings – leading to a sequel. Then another. And another. And another.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. The network Syfy has confirmed that the sixth Sharknado movie will mark the end of the series, concluding the epic drama once and for all.

According to TVLine, the final franchise instalment will continue directly after Sharknado 5: Global Swarming, which saw Ian Ziering’s Fin Shepard wandering a destroyed Earth.

The as-yet-untitled sequel — directed by series stalwart Anthony C. Ferrante, who helmed the previous five — will see Fin attempting to travel back in time to stop the original Sharknado.

Ziering, Tara Reid, Cassie Scerbo, and Vivica A. Fox have all been confirmed to return to the series, while fans can likely expect some big-name cameos — perhaps The Hoff will return?

The movie will play on Syfy this Summer.
