Robbie Williams: 'The Queen thought I was Pudsey's trainer'

Take That member says Queen 'hasn't a clue' who he is despite several royal appearances.

Robbie Williams has complained that the Queen doesn't know who he is, even though he has performed for her many times.

Speaking at his gig at the O2 Arena in London last night, he said: "I have had the pleasure of singing for the Queen this week. She hasn't got a clue who I am."

Williams has performed at royal functions in the last year, including the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, organised by his friend and one-time rival, Gary Barlow. But, unlike his former Take That bandmate, who was awarded an OBE yesterday in recognition of his services to the entertainment industry and charity, the Queen apparently has failed to even recognise who Williams is.

"I did the Queen's Jubilee this summer," he said, " I sang "Let Me Entertain You". After, I met the Queen and shook her hand. She thought I was a member of congress."

More recently, Williams has performed at the Royal Variety Performance, in aid of the Entertainment Artistes’ Benevolent Fund, alongside Alicia Keys, Neil Diamond, Kylie Minogue, and Andrea Bocelli.

Britain's Got Talent winners Ashleigh Butler and Pudsey the dog also performed a James Bond-inspired dance routine, at the event, to mark 50 years of the spy films.

Williams said that even after the meeting at the Jubilee, the Queen still mistook him for someone else.

"At the Royal Variety Performance, in the line-up afterwards, we were shaking hands... and she thought I was Pudsey's trainer."
