Album: Alan Pownall, True Love Stories (Mercury)
A model looker with friends in hyped places (Mumford and Sons, Noah and the Whale), Pownall has everything going for him but his music.
Channelling every other mid-ranking singer-songwriter going, his debut matches Badly Drawn Boy jauntiness with Jack Johnson somnolence and Damien Rice balladry, without once meriting a second listen. And though it's been described as "summery", that's the case only if you typically spend the season sweltering in overpriced coffee chains.
