Amadou & Mariam first reached a wide international audience with 2005's 'Dimanche à Bamako', which had a much poppier vibe than earlier material thanks to the production input of Manu Chao.

With this spirited follow-up, the Malian couple sound as if they couldn't wait to get away from the samplers and mixing desk so that they could get back to the rousing sound of a proper live band. Apart from the glitchy curiosity of opener 'Sibali', this is really a rock album with an African heart.

Pick of the Album: The punchy funk of 'Unissons Nous' feat. Keziah Jones
