Great idea: a free-jazz Hammond-organ trio.

Alexander Hawkins, who trained on pipe organ, coaxes all kinds of noises from the beast in the box, while John Edwards on double bass and Steve Noble on drums add textural warp and weft as well as rhythm-section oomph.

The opening "Outside In" sets the scene with a tour de force as sound-sculptural as anything by the Necks, with Edwards' bowed big fiddle giving way to ringing cymbals before the entry of the Hammond's underwater sonics. Goes on a bit, mind.
