A slightly old-fashioned but superbly swinging big band set, with Galliano's ridiculously virtuosic accordion playing taking the lead role normally performed by a star pianist or horn-man.
The material is all original bar Astor Piazzolla's "Michelangelo 70", and the inventive yet subtle arrangements are shared equally between Galliano and Bert Joris. Reckoned by some to be the best in Europe, the orchestra has an especially sweet reeds section, and the drumming (by one Klaas Balijon) is outstanding.
