On Evolution, JLS shift gear and attempt to graduate from boy-band to grown-up R&B combo. But it's a tough old world out there, and they may have sacrificed the very charm that was their major selling point.

They've certainly lost much of their vocal character to the dreaded auto-tune, without gaining much by recompense – the notable elements here are mostly musical, rather than vocal. The striding synth-stomper "Have Your Way" is infectious enough, but the only time their vocals are allowed to stand out is on the dubstepper "Give Me Life", a blend of natural voices with unnatural synth sounds.
