Album: Jools Holland & His R&B Orchestra, Rockinghorse (Rhino)

Newsflash: He hasn't gone dubstep.

Let's face it, you know exactly what Rockinghorse sounds like, but it would be perverse to pretend that it isn't a high-quality example of its genre. Holland's still doing his boogie-woogie thing, with big-name guests such as Michael McDonald, Allen Toussaint, Alison Moyet and Ruby Turner.

It's dominated by blues and big-band standards, but titles such as "London Belongs to Me" (feat Chas & Dave) and lyrics about "a block of flats on Deptford Green" have the unmistakeable aroma of the home-grown.
