Professional hair-twirler Juliette Lewis has always been cut more slack for her Scientology than Cruise and Travolta.

Could her sideline as a rock'n'roll screamer have anything to do with that? Her first burst of activity with The Licks won a lot of friends, but ran out of steam.

Her second coming is more substantial. Terra Incognita is a frazzled and bluesy beast, which finds Lewis hollering in the hope of hitting the Janis Joplin mark and falling only slightly short. Not bad for someone who believes we're all reincarnated aliens.
