Album: Los Lobos, Tin Can Trust (Proper)
The world's most distinguished meta-bar band go back to the garage, so to speak, and record live in the studio. It's coarse, it's raw, it's occasionally inaccurate.
It certainly sounds like they're trying to get to something true and basic about their mash of Mex balladry, rock'n'roll and R&B. But is it any good? Depends on how much store you set by good songwriting in its relationship with such a "raw" aesthetic. Fact is, this is probably the least well-written album Los Lobos have ever made.
