She may not have had the biggest of Hollywood hurdles to overcome, being known mainly for low-key but likeable film roles such as Cameron Crowe's hot air-hostess sister in Almost Famous.

But it's nevertheless a tribute to Zooey Deschanel that one now thinks of She & Him first, and her acting career second. While M Ward strums and twangs timelessly, Deschanel coos with the purity of a Bobbie Gentry or Loretta Lynn, the highlight being an adorable cover of "Gonna Get Along Without You Now".
