New England's Merril Garbus has taken the anarchic homemade charm of her debut and made it more 3D.

Blasts of tinselly synth coexist happily with the intimate atmosphere conjured by the ukulele; boisterous tribal rhythms complement unhinged Dadaist lyrics, and Garbus's versatile, commanding vocals unify the whole. Catchy yet abrasive, noisy yet intimate, kind of funny yet also kind of scary, this is post-pop at its most vertiginously original.
