The collision (oh, all right, "fusion") of Brazilian bossa and modern jazz defined the 1960s as succinctly as did Bob Dylan, which perhaps explains why that decade is so often sold short by history.

This two-CD set continues Soul Jazz's admirable determination to explain things. We get 30 tracks, ranging in atmosphere from the languorous to the excitable, by such institutions as Airto Moreira, Sergio Mendes and Jobim, as well as a lot of Brazilians you've never heard of. Busy music.
